Angler
Paul
Fukamae
was
the
first
to
hookup
into
a
Halibut.
We
had
moved
around
quite
a
bit
and
located
some
fish
near
Angel
Island.
The
boat
traffic
was
very
intense
at
this
spot.

using

anchovy.
Dennis proved the theory that the best way to catch a Halibut is to not pay attention. Dennis was joking with me when I noticed his rod buckled over. I informed him that had a fish on his line.

Dennis
caught
another
Halibut
on
the
next
drop.
As
he
was
reeling
this
one
up
the
DFG
came
by.
Once
we
got
the
fish
on
the
boat.
The
DFG
boarded
the
New
Huck
Finn
and
checked
everybody
for
a
valid
California
Fishing
License.
Captain
Jay
told
me
that
this
is
the
fourth
time
this
year
they
have
boarded
the
boat.
Make
sure
you
bring
your
license
when
you
fish!

all

are
nearly
the
same

And
of
course,
these
are
some
quality
Halibut.

fishing
was
slow
so
Joe
moved
us
up
near
the
Northside
of
Santa
Rosa
Island.
As soon as I hit the bottom with my LIVE SQUID I was hooked up into a nice big Santa Rosa Island California Halibut. This baby tipped the scales at 37 pounds. I am proud to say this is my biggest Halibut to date.
