To summarize the trip. We left at around 4 AM. Many people slept on our way to Chineese Harbor where one day earlier Captian Steve Kelly had put his anglers on a school of White Seabass that produced a 63 pound White Seabass. Our expectations were very high. When we arrived Steve parked us a squid ball. We caught a few sole and a Bat Ray. The Seabass didn?t show. We later made some great drifts that produced some fine Halibut. Once we got bored with that we closed the day with limits of Rockfish including some real nice Chuckleheads. Thanks to Steve Kelly and Woody for a great trip. As always were looking forward to more Island Tak trips in the future!

Here is a shot of Christopher with his first fish ever. The Halibut was taken in 60-feet of water off of Santa Monica beach. Only three legal fish were caught that day, and Christophers was the biggest! Helping to hold the catch is Christophers Dad, Tom Fields.

Later we moved to the beach to drift for Halibut. We had a lot of bites and racked baits! I was lucky enough to catch this just legal California Halibut. I made some fish tacos with my Halibut. It was delicious! We also caught two shorts that were released to grow up!

On Friday, August 9th we fished with Captain Billy aboard the Sur Randy. We departed around 6 AM. The weather was incredible we had no swell and a very slight breeze. It was unusually warm for Monterey Bay. We fished for Halibut and Salmon. Pictured here is Chrissy Chonacki from Randy Fishing Trips with a nice California Halibut caught on a live Sardine!
