The fishing was slow so Joe moved us up near the Northside of Santa Rosa Island.
As soon as I hit the bottom with my LIVE SQUID I was hooked up into a nice big Santa Rosa Island California Halibut. This baby tipped the scales at 37 pounds. I am proud to say this is my biggest Halibut to date.

Roland dropped back in and caught this huge halbiut. WOW!

That is a nice 40 pounder!

Roland's fish won the jackpot.

We ended up having a successful trip. Joe and his crew did a great job thanks!

Fish Count: 22 Anglers caught 18 Vermilion Rockfish, 9 White Seabass, 34 Ocean Whitefish, 2 California Halibut, 95 Rockfish.

After we finished with our rockcod we moved to Beechers to see if we could get a Halibut or two.

We got one big flatty. Tino Gomez III is pictured iwth his "personal best" Calfiornai Halibut. This sucker tipped the scales at 24 pounds. Congratulations Tino. I am proud of you.

After getting bag limits of rockfish we drifted near the Inside Airstrip for halibut.

We weren't going to give up on the halibut that easy! Steve made a couple drifts at the Inside Airstrip then headed over to the Port Hueneme Pier. We made our last drift of the day, and unfortunately there were no takers. Thanks again to Steve and John for a great day fishing!

Capt. Chris wanted to go over to Catalina to give the exotics a try. We had an ultra light load today, only 6 guys! The ride over to the island was a little on the bumpy side, but all was well. We dropped anchor and almost immediately starting hooking into cookie-cutter calicos. We then moved in shallow to try for some halibut. We set up a drift near a beach but had no luck. Even though we didn't get any halibut the scenery was awesome. With all the recent rain Catalina is very green.

Stan Drake won the Native Sun's Halibut derby this year. Stan also won an annual pass for the boat.

Jeff managed to get a 22" halibut while fishing for seabass.

From Cresent City, Ca. Mike was doing some bottom fishin' and caught a tasty halibut.

Doug from Fullerton Ca. and Mr. Ruiz both scored some fine halibut.

Fishin' a jig down deep, George ended up with a huge halibut.

The fishing was on the scratchy side today...As always Capt. Joe did his best and did put us on this nice 15lb flatty for the lucky angler....Congrats!! Jackpot Fish!

We finished the first day in Kyler's Anchorage drifting for halibut. We managed one fish, and Mary was the lucky angler.

We started day 2 drifting for halibut. Ray pinned on a sardine, and it got slammed by this halibut! Nice fish Ray!

Brian then caught a nice halibut!
